Cost

Sifting through the life insurance coverage costs can be somewhat like sifting through a 10 inch deep mud puddle – messy and time consuming to say the least. So here at Life Cover we want you to be prepared with all the background information that you will need to know in order to for the life insurance company to provide the ultimate costs to you.

There are several different variables that affect cost that is for sure. Each type of policy, of course, provides different benefits and therefore it makes sense that the more comprehensive the policy that you chose with the more features it has, the more it is going to take away from your pocket. So it really is up to you to decide which policy is really applicable to your needs – then you need to weigh the associated costs to see what features you are willing to pay for and which you are not.

This is not unlike purchasing a new vehicle – most of us need a car to get around whether for work or play, and sure all the ‘extras’ are fabulous to have like power locks, windows, and air conditioning. But you need to ask yourself the same question when buying life insurance – do I really need these features and are they worth the extra monthly payment?

So other than the obvious difference in types of policies that you can purchase, there are also quite a few other mitigating factors that have a direct impact on the overall cost of life insurance. For example, the amount of your coverage that you chose directly affects the premium. It makes perfect sense that if you purchase a $100,000 policy that that is going to cost significantly less than if you chose to purchase a policy that is worth over $1,000,000.

Depending on your current lifestyle and personal or family situation, the amount of the coverage is an important determinant. So don’t let the amount of the premium be your only deciding factor. It’s important to make sure that if you go to all the time and effort of purchasing insurance that you at least end up with a payout that is really doing to help your beneficiaries at their time of need.

Other determinants that affect the cost of life insurance are factors such as your current age. The younger you decide to invest in life insurance the lower your premiums will be (and stay). Your overall current health also pays a very significant role in your final costs. If you smoke – that will cost you more than a package of cigarettes (just another reason to consider quitting!). And if you work in a dangerous profession, or have an affinity for sky-diving – this will show up as an increase in premiums.

So basically, be prepared to answer a few personal questions when applying for a life insurance policy. At Live Covers we can help you get through those questions quickly and easily and get you out and about before you know it!
